When running a slideshow with normal images and pdf files, images / pages are advanced every N seconds, as defined by "--slideshow-interval=N"
When viewing animated gifs or movies, this timing is enforced as well, even if the gif animation / movie hasn't finished playing. I think for those media types slideshow-interval should be the time gap between finishing a movie and viewing the next item on the list. That seems more natural to me.
