The current photo sorting is reverse chronological order (date taken). But within a given date, the photos show in forward chronological order. This doesn't make much sense. Is this intentional? And if so, why?

Known bug. See bug #1286

No it's not. At least not covered by that one (which I did find and read through, by the way). This issue covers photos that are dated properly but are sorted in an order that isn't consistent with the default overall sort order. Per this comment on that issue the ordering is not in itself a bug. I'm asking whether to consider a more consistent ordering.

This is #735.

The current sort order is quite confusing for new users, and a real pain for albums that cover events spanning multiple days.

That's it. Kinda surprised that one didn't turn up in my searching (or I just didn't notice) and many times going through these bugs. Thanks.

Taking a step back and opening this up for discussion with the hopes that we can decide on a good default based on all the perspectives we get. #1341
