I am not sure if this is a bug or intended behavior, so I'm starting this as a discussion. I've noticed a change in behavior, although I'm not entirely sure when it changed. I was playing a decent amount of lazer in late 2023, and have transitioned to playing 95% lazer since early December 2024, and noticed this change in the interim. Currently, the beatmap offset calibration button only appears before playing a map in two situations. If you "slow retry," i.e. pause and hit the retry button, or if you press the retry button on the results screen. In these situations, timing distribution is saved from the previous play and you are given the option to change the beatmap offset to fit the timing distribution. As most people know, this was removed from quick retry in order to allow for faster retries. However, in previous updates, if you quit out of the results screen, return to song select, and then select the same map again, the game would remember the timing distribution and allow you to auto calibrate the beatmap offset. This no longer happens, as doing this same sequence will load an empty timing distribution and no calibration button. Was this changed to improve the performance of the results screen and/or song select? Or was this something that was changed alongside the recent quick retry change? Or is it unintended? Or, finally, am I delusional and remembering something completely incorrect and the game never operated that way? issue.mp4 |
