Linux, game crashes right away when the only screen is disconnected

Bug description

I opened the same issue before but it was closed right away and I was directed to ThePooN's discord server however it was concluded there that this is indeed a normal use case that the game can't handle.

When you turn off or disconnect the only DisplayPort monitor the game crashes right away. Tried on both X11 (dwm) and Wayland (Hyprland), error is the same on both. SDL3 and SDL2 error logs below.
No other app that I use behaves this way, this is not a hardware or my system configuration related issue.
