Bucket system #96
Comments
This is related to issue #32 on how can we further filter and categorize products. The biggest hurdle to date is creating the right type 'buckets' for each product in a systematic and transparent way. Any thoughts on how to approach this (or good examples) would be awesome! |
Hi Andrew I will do some research on it and post on git.I had a look at bitnami they also follow the same like the screen shot above. However the categories are buckets themselves showing classification of software if I am correct and shows the software assigned to them.I will look out for examples and post some links over. |
Thanks @neilmartis looking forward to more, thanks for the help! One additional thing to consider is how do we go about designating these 'buckets' within the current JSON construct that's implemented. We'll need to add in parameters based on the bucketing, open to suggestions on the best approach that requires the least amount of hand mashing :) |
Hi Andrew I was speaking to Jackie Kazil and Data.gov has a similiar categories or bucket system on the homepage which takes you to the respective dataset or in our case it would be apps.gov.I think if we can implement something similiar to data.gov it might save the hassle.Do let me know thou.I hope you got my linkedin request |

This is just a suggestion not a bug.I was having an idea of putting like related software in buckets for example Cloud bucket will contain all cloud related softwares like AWS etc,CMS buckets will contain all CMS related buckets which would make it easy for the user to navigate to the appropriate bucket on the homescreen it will reduce the number of clicks as well. The EU would know which bucket he wants to go on the homescreen.
