Expected behavior

If you input complex boolean search strings in the advanced search text search boxes you expect the system to produce results.

Actual behavior

This query produces zero results. It should produce some.

Steps to replicate

  1. Visit Advanced Search
  2. Input a boolean search string in query box one "Material culture" OR toys OR dolls OR consumers"
  3. Input a boolean search string in query box two "child OR Children OR Youth OR Girls OR Boys"
  4. Run search you will receive zero results.

Impact of this bug

No real work around. These types of queries don't work.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Example query works in production
  • A test scenario is added that covers this kind of query.

Notes

Either of the example boolean strings work work fine in our basic search box. Even if not paired, each single search string also fails in advanced search.

Written as nested single param the query works. I wonder if this is in keeping with the "spirit" of the broken one in the previous comment.
