A list of tasks for contributors

Hey everyone 👋

Here's a list of some of the tasks that contributors could tackle, in no particular order. This list will be regularly updated.

It is also possible to do tasks outside this list.

Tasks:

1. Set up a Minter contract and a frontend for a new domain partner

• This is an ongoing task whenever there's a new partner/client (e.g. a DAO) that would like to have their own domain extension.
• Check the Minter templates here: https://github.com/punk-domains/punk-contracts/tree/main/contracts/partners/templates
• Also check the already-made Minter contracts for existing partners on the archive branches
• Copy a recent frontend such as the fantom-names-frontend and adapt it to the new partner's needs: https://github.com/punk-domains/fantom-names-frontend

2. Update Punk Domains browser extensions (Chrome, Firefox) with new colors and domains

3. Set up .limo websites for existing punk domains

• See the awesome pool.limo project by @trmid: https://github.com/trmid/pool-limo
• The pool.limo project was set up for the .pool domain, which is owned by the PoolTogether DAO (running on the Punk Domains protocol, of course 🙂)
• Set up a similar service for some other punk domain. Here's the list of all existing punk domain extensions
• You can use some other DNS domain extension than .limo (which is fairly expensive), for example .site, .space, .website, .xyz etc. (you can contact me and I can make a purchase of a DNS domain)

4. Try out soulbound domains on public testnets

• Smart contracts for soulbound domains are completed, but haven't been tried out on testnets yet.

5. Try out renewable domains on public testnets + adapt a frontend for renewables

• Frontend would need additional features such as checking when a domain expires and renewing a domain etc.

6. Subgraph for Punk Domains

• We don't have a subgraph for Punk Domains yet, but it would be very welcome to have it

7. DAO tooling research

• Punk Domains is on the path to become a DAO. In order to get there, an extensive research is needed, particularly in DAO tooling.

8. Ascii-only domain names

A function in the minter contract (or even a separate standalone contract that other minter or TLD contracts can use) which filters out non-ascii characters. Or at least checks whether a given string includes non-ascii chars or not. Some TLD owners may prefer to have domains with only ascii chars to avoid things like empty/blank characters.
