The issue

During synchronization, archiver may crash upon receiving a status request from the metrics collector. The crashed is caused by pebble throwing a panic with the message that the database is closed. This shouldn't happen as we only close the database upon archiver shutdown. This has been observed to happen when synchronization fails to validate a tick, but this doesn't explain why the database throws this error.
