Is there a way to add a custom authentication message without monkey patching?

I've attached an image of how it looks when authentication fails.
In the application i'm making. I'm only allowing certain users to sign in.
Therefore i reject the sign in, if the user does not live up to the criteria.

That gives the user the error:
"Error verifying signature, please retry!"

Which is not very descriptive.
I would like to customize this message, and let the user know why they couldn't sign in.
In this case, because they don't hold a certain NFT.
