Hey, because you're quite deep into the thematic

is there any library that allows me to automate the process of searching for text, highlighting it and embedding it into an epub? prefereably something with a viewer so you could see the changes

Hi, there is no library yet because there is no standard yet.

This is something some of us (developers of the Readium toolkits) are working on, now as part of a W3C Working Group.
Annotations are already available in Thorium Desktop (open-source, but not a dedicated library)
