Instead of the class-based approach, a decorator-based functional approach may be simpler and cleaner.

For example:

@comouted_arg('sum', ['x', 'y'])
def make_sum(arg1, arg2):
    return arf1 + arg2

@dog(['the sum is {>sum}', make_sum])
def add(x, y):
    return x + y
