When the magnet gets close enough to the hall effect sensor, that registers a press. There are two ways to do this: using a digital hall effect sensor or an analog sensor. The trouble with digital is that it has a fixed set point, and depending on the exact position of the magnet and sensor, that set point may not trigger at the right point. That is why Riskable is using analog sensors, an analog multiplexor, and an A/D converter to measure the voltage out of the sensor and thus the exact position. Then the software calibrates each key to get the most accurate trigger point.
