ROOST intro/roadmap livestream

As part of our adoption/onboarding efforts, we've talked about doing an informal introductory livestream. It should cover our just-announced initial roadmap, but could also be an opportunity to provide a very high level introduction to the problem space and how our tools fit into it.

Audience

Potential partners/adopters

Purpose

• Spread the word about ROOST and our work
• Provide a resource to aid in understanding for adoption

Secondary:

• Provide a source for shorter-form clips for social media/smaller explainers
• Put names and faces to ROOSTers for the community

Agenda

A rough picture of how we could structure the conversation:

1. Intro to ROOST
2. T&S problem space
3. Basic intro to ROOST projects
   1. Osprey
   2. Coop
4. How our tools fit in, i.e. "a day in the life of our tools"
5. High level look at the roadmap
   1. Osprey: initial release, 2026, and next

6. Call(s) to action!
   1. Join the community
   2. Talk to us about partnering/using our tools
   3. Provide feedback on the roadmap
   4. (Say hi at FOSDEM, depending on timing?)

Notes

Something I'm conscious of: if we're streaming to a major platform like YouTube and/or Twitch, we may need to avoid too much detail of specific harms or even categories of harms to avoid being flagged—we might need to just try it out and adapt if we discover it becomes a problem.

Also, I want to stress that I'm very much in favor of this being informal! Not that we will come unprepared/unprofessional, but this will explicitly not be a polished, edited marketing video or an overly stiff webinar. The monthly Home Assistant release parties are a good point of reference for me. Over time we can adapt the format and cadence, but it's important to me to start somewhere and get some information out there in a different format.

Things to sort out, still:

• Who will join (I can host/run the stream, but would like 1–3 others to talk with me about ROOST and the roadmap)
• Date/timing: can we get this done before the holidays, or early January before FOSDEM?
• Streaming setup/branding: I can put this together from assets I have around, but I'll need to prep an OBS scene collection with them

For "how our tools fit in," it'd be useful to come up with some sort of hypothetical scenario where we follow the flow of information and actions across people and tools without getting super technical or into the weeds.
