It's decision time as we continue refining our project, particularly focusing on the camera functionality, which is already quite stable. However, there are exciting potential advancements on the horizon that we're eager to explore. At the core of this integration lies the principle of prioritizing privacy through local control—a shared goal between Home Assistant and Valetudo. Our initial aim was to seamlessly extract maps from Valetudo Vacuums into Home Assistant, supplementing rather than replacing the vacuums' native MQTT integration.
During the initial stages of development, we experimented with OpenCV, a powerful tool that unfortunately isn't compatible with the Home Assistant Operating System. However, leveraging a Docker container presents an opportunity to integrate OpenCV, potentially replacing PIL and overcoming existing limitations, especially on platforms like the Raspberry Pi 3.
We're keen to gather feedback from our users as we continue to evolve and refine this integration.
