If PSxMemCard users should install the pmc+ firmware variant, then why was the psxmemcard one released?

Since both PicoMemcard and PicoMemcard+ may be use RP2040 or R02040-Zero, which sd2psxTd variant should be installed in all 4 cases? Should the pmc+ one be installed on PicoMemcard+ regardless if it uses RP2040 or RP2040-Zero or should the pmczero one be installed if it uses the latter? And what about PicoMemcard, which sd2psXtd variant should be installed? Should the pmczero one be installed on it regardless if it uses RP2040 or RP2040-Zero or should the pmczero one only be installed if it uses the latter? If the latter, which sd2psxTd variant should be installed on a RP2040 PicoMemcard?

I also noticed conflicting information regarding which firmware to use for the Bitfunx PSxMemCad (Gen 1). In the README under General: Support for Other RP2040-Based MMCE Devices it says to use the PMC+ firmware, but the Firmware Dowload page links to psxmemcard.uf2.

Do you know which firmware should be installed on RP2040 PicoMemCard+ and on RP2040-Zero PicoMemCard+?

Do you know which firmware should be installed on the non-plus RP 2040 PicoMemcard RP and on the RP2040-Zero non-plus PicoMemcard?

I believe it should be pmc+.uf2 for the RP2040 and pmczero.uf2 for the RP2040-Zero. If you load the incorrect firmware it shouldn't "brick" the device. It just won't function correctly. In that case you can hold the 'BOOTSEL' or 'BOOT' button and plug your device into your computer and load the correct firmware.

The issue I raised has been fixed in the develop branch in commit d535707. The correct firmware for the Bitfunx PSxMemCad (Gen 1) is psxmemcard.uf2.

Why does PSxMemCard (Gen1) have its own firmware and doesn't use PMC+'s when it's based on it and why does PSxMemCard (Gen2) use sd2psx's when it's based on sd2psx instead of also having its own firmware?

Also, are there RP2040-Zero SD2PSXs/PSxMemCards (Gen1)/PSxMemCards Gen2?
