Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

When I lock my laptop and unlock it again, Signal Desktop has lost connection to the phone. No messages are ever found, even when someone sends me a message that I receive on the phone. I can type a message but it gets one outlined checkmark and it is never sent. (I first thought it happened after I left the house with my phone so the phone was no longer on the same network, but now the phone did not leave the house so the one thing left is the lock screen.)

I have to kill the process and restart Signal Desktop and then it will be as normal.

I am on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS with Signal Desktop 7.14.0 amd64.

A Quit option in Signal would be nice. Closing the app is not good enough for the restart.

Any thoughts?

Steps to reproduce

  1. send anything with Signal on Android or Signal Desktop
  2. Lock PC
  3. Unlock PC
  4. send anything with Signal on Android works, send and receive on Signal Desktop does not work

Expected result

I can use Signal Desktop to send and receive

Actual result

I have to kill the Signal process and re-start Signal Desktop

We need debuglogs from both of your desktop and android devices in order to debug this: https://support.signal.org/hc/en-us/articles/360007318591-Debug-Logs-and-Crash-Reports

Could you please reproduce the issue then get debuglogs from each of them?

I was installing a new laptop so was not able to provide any info. But it happens on the new laptop as well Xubuntu 24.04. I'll do some testing and provide logs.
