GDI specification changes notification

How are GDI projects supposed to know about GDI specification changes? Also are we talking only about "released" changes in GDI spec? Should projects specify, which version of the spec they currently implement?

Simplest but perhaps not easiest would be to have the spec author to create GH issues for every project whenever they change the spec. The first spec contributor who is bored too much will likely automate it :)

If we require compliance only to released versions of the spec, then it may be part of the release process.

For sure it would help to create GitHub Releases for GDI specs. Then we can automate, reference, set up notifications/watches etc...

We should follow a similar process to OTel. At a minimum 1.0+ of gdi spec is required for gdi project to release their 1.0. Beyond that still TBD -- how does OTel do this?

OTel doesn't have a great process for this. Basically, maintainers are expected to watch the specification repos for releases, and create issues/PRs in their own project to update their projects based on the changes. To sum up: it's a maintainer responsibility.

So will add language about being the responsibility of GDI spec maintainers for now. Will also open a feature request to automate this where a new tag opens respective issues in GDI projects.
