Requesting clarifications for configuration

If a Splunk-specific configuration variable is declared as stable in the GDI specification

How configuration variables are declared stable? Current "Configuration" document does not say anything about the stability of the variables that it lists.

Also I am confused about what does it mean for a configuration to be "required". Does it mean "GDI project MUST support this configuration" or does it mean "end-user MUST provide a value for this configuration"? This table is especially confusing for me.

I think the author meant once the variable part of Otel spec. We should update this to make it less ambiguous.
