Let's figure out a good event format. What we've done previously:

  • Day before the conference - mapping party.
  • Day 1 - keynote, talks, workshops.
  • Day 2 - talks, happy hour.

Feedback from 2017 showed a number of people interested in a day dedicated to workshops. How does something like below sound to you all?

  • Day before the conference - mapping party, workshops. Parallel, may be different venues depending on number of worksops
  • Day 1 - keynote 1, talks, bofs.
  • Day 2 - keynote 2, talks, happy hour

Anything for the day after the conference? We tried city tours/hiking by stationing a travel agent. Only few people were interested.

@kshitizkhanal7
It's a long way to Nepal, and most people may already have made prior arrangements?

I checked out the agent, just to compare the trips I booked myself. I definitely saw some SotMA participants in the attractions I went to.

How about coordinating LoCo activities to ramp up interest leading to the event?

@govvin I don't think @kshitizkhanal7 is saying that we should organise something in Nepal. He's wonder if we're up for doing something similar.

I don't think I'll have bandwidth to this on, if someone is willing to help, I'm happy to give suggestions.

@govvin @kshitizkhanal7 on the other hand - what do you all think about the event format?

@geohacker , I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I didn't say we organize a trip to Nepal. I'm referring to last year's event in Nepal, when they had an agent in the hall offering tours.

re local events will depend on available organizers in local communities - but we could ask community leaders if they can organize any.

As for the format for this year, it looks typical for the event.
