It looks like diff.h/diff.cpp is full of depreciated files, that haven't been around since version 12 of the HDK. It's too the point that GEO_PolyInterface only gets mentioned once on the forums:

https://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/53642/

Or are there restrictions (ie, missing/restricted files) to the "apprentice"-installed version of the HDK?

hey, i used 16.5
they have never changed it,if you want to use polyinterface, you need to comment out the UT_Triangulation.h and the corresponding code in the polyinterface.h,

by the way, i deleted the repo for the matrix lib but if you still interested, you could give me your e-mail adresse and i'm looking forward to send you the source for the VexOp

sorry for the late reply! i haven't received any notifications for the issue so hadn't seen it,

Hi, sorry for my late reply as well! Thanks for getting back to me on this. If I do comment out polyinterface.h and UT_Triangulation.h in Houdini's system include dirs, will it affect Houdini's build capability at all? Also, how can I DM you an email address here? I can't find any private-messaging links on this site...

Hi, I got it to build on Linux, finally. I made a branch with all the changes:
