Update “What is the numbering system?” [IIIA2d] with examples of Japanese OS variations. These variations (at least on MP120 devices) seemingly use the same two digit “model code” as the US and I’ntl flavours of the OS.

For example:

  • 1.4J (464353)
  • 1.4J (444152)
  • 1.3J (444217)
  • 2.0J (516205)

There’s also apparently a 1.5J version, as well.

cf. https://web.archive.org/web/20160417213729/http://www.remus.dti.ne.jp:80/~sugiyama/120.html

Perhaps add a “Japanese Updates” subcategory to “What are the system upgrades for my Newton?” [IIIA2] as well.

Likewise, add the Japanese localized versions to“Localized models” in the Hardware section. [IIA1c]

Perhaps add a “Japanese Updates” subcategory to “What are the system upgrades for my Newton?” [IIIA2] as well.

This section has been added for the 2.0-J 516205 and 2.0-J 526205 updates, but not the 1.x updates listed above. Need additional documentation for those update before they can be added.

Likewise, add the Japanese localized versions to“Localized models” in the Hardware section. [IIA1c]

This has been updated per commit af80ac1
