The XSharp project was founded by 4 former members of the Visual Objects and Vulcan.Net development teams. They started this project in 2015 and used the source code from the C# compiler (Roslyn) as foundation for the compiler. In 2025 a 5th team member joined the team to help support customers with a Visual FoxPro background and to help support customers speaking Spanish.
The product comes with a compiler, runtime, Visual Studio integration and tools. We support Viusal Studio 2017,2019, 2022 and 2026.
At this moment, with X# 2, the .Net Framework is supported.
We are working on the support for .Net Next (8,9,10 and later) and plan to release that in the 1st quarter of 2026.
A compiled version of X# can be downloaded for free from www.xsharp.eu
We do not have a specific goal in mind. At this moment we are supporting the development by selling "subscriptions" to our Friends Of XSharp (FOX) program. An additional sponsorship is more than welcome.
