Hi, I'm Herb. I live outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and since the age of 13 have actively pursued my own open source projects. Now that I'm poor and destitute from giving away my finest years to the internet, I'm hoping to find a warm trashcan to huddle around while I complete my magnum opus of software design.

The funds go directly to helping Lost Astronaut Studios as well as other open source projects I contribute to. Lost Astronaut Studios is a small company that produces big epic tools and graphics engines to help other gamers make better games, and to teach noobie graphics engineers a couple of things from the old timers.

My favorite repositories right now are Galvanic, a C++ back-end that could revolutionize web APIs, and the Lost Astronaut Game Creation Framework, a 15 year long project for gaming and graphics that I just can't quit.

With enough sponsorships, I could find a happy life balancing open source with my day-to-day needs, but until then I'll have to take many long hiatus to work "in the industry" on projects that are far less glamorous and fun.

The best software isn't made at a big company, it's made by the devoted few who see the vision and have the freedom to produce it. Help make the world a better place by funding me!

@h3rb

Reaching this goal will solidify my commitment to Github Sponsorships as a worthwhile goal. It can only get better from here! It will also help justify all of this time I spend on open source!

A sponsorship like this means the world to me because it can help pay the costs of testing apparatus on AWS, an important step in building web infrastructure. I really appreciate your efforts, this is no small donation at all! As these kinds of sponsorships compound, I hope to reach more people and spend more time devoted solely to these great projects. This money won't go to waste. As we climb toward the level of independence my projects so desperately need, it's sponsors like you that are making that dream a reality. You want to change the world as much as I do. You deserve credit for your efforts and I will make sure to include you in our list of public sponsors, if you so wish. This much money can help pay for an intern, part of a director's salary, or be spent improving documentation, generating new builds and innovating the future without being overburdened by corporate mumbo jumbo. In fact, for this much money, a phone call every now and then doesn't seem like a bad idea, if you want to participate beyond a fiscal donation, that is.

This kind of money makes those far away trade shows like Siggraph seem just a little bit closer. I can think of dozens of ways to use a chunk of money like this to improve my projects and build a better world. Together, we can find our future filled with great opportunities for students and researchers, create new products and enable better design. We're going to save the environment, while we're at it! Thank you so much. You deserve credit for your efforts and I will make sure to include you in our list of public sponsors, if you so wish. Well, this is half the maximum allowed per month someone can sponsor me. I have no idea how to repay you and the only thing I can think of is to say a big "THANKS" ... if you're ever in the same airport, bus station or small town, I owe you a beer and dinner.
