Starknet All Core Devs Meeting #45

Meeting Details

Agenda Items

1. Decentralized Validation Progress (Eitan Moed)

  • Staker conversations and requirements gathering status
  • Observability and alerting systems progress
  • Key management solutions evaluation
  • Validator sync time considerations

Context: In Call #44, Eitan shared that Starkware is in conversations with potential stakers to understand their needs for running validator nodes. Focus areas include observability, alerting, key management, and sync time optimization. All this work is toward creating an Apollo validator package.

2. RPC & Network Upgrade Coordination (Eitan Moed)

  • Developer crates (blockifier, starknet_api) testing status
  • JSON RPC v0.10.1 finalization timeline
  • v0.14.2 release timeline and features
  • Client-side proving implementation coordination
  • SNOS v0.14.2 compatibility details (follow-up from Mohit's question)

Context: In Call #44, Eitan announced developer versions of blockifier and starknet_api crates were published for testing (not production). Confirmed JSON RPC v0.10.1 will release before v0.14.2 network upgrade. Mohit asked about SNOS changes needed for v0.14.2 client-side proving - Eitan said he'd follow up with details.

3. Client Team Updates

Pathfinder (Krisztian Kovacs)

  • JSON RPC v0.10.1 pre-release status and testing results
  • Validator mode concurrent execution progress
  • Consensus implementation updates
  • Any stable releases since v0.21.5

Context: In Call #44, Pathfinder v0.21.5 remains stable. Team planned to cut a JSON RPC v0.10.1 pre-release with client-side proofs support (testing only, requires DB migration). Working on validator mode with concurrent execution for transaction batches. Reviewing Propeller code from Starkware.

Juno (Rodrigo Pino)

  • v0.15.18 release status (40% DB reduction, 700GB→360GB)
  • Migration adoption and user feedback
  • v0.16 timeline and default migration plan
  • Performance improvements and tuning parameters
  • Consensus implementation progress post-January

Context: In Call #44, Rodrigo said v0.15.18 with 40% DB reduction (700GB→360GB) was releasing "today or tomorrow" (Jan 29/30) as opt-in. v0.16 with default migration targeted for mid-February. Team focused on DB work in January, planning to shift focus to Propeller and consensus after January.

Karnot (Heemank Verma / Mohit)

  • Madara mainnet sync progress (class hash mismatch resolution)
  • RPC v0.10.1 compatibility status
  • starknet-rs contributions update
  • Merkleization optimization progress (60-80% bottleneck)
  • SNOS v0.14.1 and v0.14.2 status
  • Cairo Native performance report publication

Context: In Call #44 (Mohit presenting), Madara synced to Sepolia tip. Mainnet sync in progress with class hash mismatch on early blocks (picking up this week). Working on RPC v0.10.1 with starknet-rs contributions (expected completion by end of that week). Merkleization is 60-80% of sync time - major optimization focus. SNOS v0.14.1 still pending Dojo review (two-proofs L3 incompatibility). Cairo Native showing 2-3x gains. Asked Eitan for SNOS v0.14.2 changes needed.

4. AOB (Any Other Business)
