"Note type" feature #9656
Description
What problem are you facing?
Based on several other issues, having a way to create different type of notes would greatly improve the overall usability of the app, and even facilitate the development of these features (I suppose).
What's the solution you'd like to see in Notesnook?
Something like that:
Based on the linked issues, the options would then be:
- Rich note (the original)
- Raw note?
- Checklist
- Mindmap
- Whiteboard
What alternatives have you considered?
Checklist: using the options from the rich editor (limited capabilities, but the core features are there)
Mindmap: Minder
Whiteboard: Excalidraw or TLDraw
Additional context
About raw notes:
It's a suggestion based on what I have seen when using other note-taking apps. It would allow me to store text as-is, without struggling with the rich text editor that may alter the content because it recognizes formatting patterns. The font would be neutral, like monospace (or another basic font) and there would be no formatting options. Converting the note into rich text would create a code block with everything in it?
About checklist:
This mode would enable a lot more usability improvement related to todo lists, like reordering tasks with drag-n-drop (#6465), filter notes based on its status (move/hide checked tasks to bottom) (#9648), easier task management (by managing the task as a whole thing, and instead of the text in it, it can be easier to do things like deleting a task)
Whiteboard:
Using an integration in rich text mode (#4108) would be awesome, but having a whole note to draw without distraction would be easier to use (especially on mobile devices, I guess). Whiteboards has already been seen on other solutions (e.g. Logseq)
Mindmaps:
For reference purposes, even if this use-case can be accomplished with the Whiteboard feature
