Using CXXFLAGS with meson doesn't work

Hi all,

in #1281 I had build warnings (which makes the build fail) with maybe unitialized variables e.g.

int i;
if(conditional)
    i = 4;
a = i

and there is a flag to detect this kind of stuff Wmaybe-unitialized. But when setting CXXFLAGS and running meson I got the error
meson.build:1:0: ERROR: Unable to determine dynamic linker
which is not unique to me see issue in meson repo.

Does someone else set additional flags? Does it work? Are there other methods?
