Selecting multiple layers?

Hi, I love this project! I ran a series of tests on functionality my workflow relies on, and it passed very well. However there is one photoshop-like feature I didn't see.

I am unable to control-click or shift-click layers to select more than one layer. This would be useful to do the following:

-Merge selected layers
-Move tool: move selected layers across the canvas
-Apply a layer style to selected layers

Photoshop supports moving multiple selected layers, and some layer operations on multiple selected layers. This functionality would be useful.

Correct me if I am misunderstanding how to perform these operations. If they are indeed missing, I'd love to know which classes and methods need to be implemented or modified to support this functionality.
