[Feature request] - Consider additional file formats #686
Description
Describe the best way to implement this.
PhotoDemon already has support for the most common image formats and is very flexible.
However, I have compiled a list of formats which are supported by GIMP and other photo editors and would be nice to have in PhotoDemon in the future (not an high priority obviously):
- DIB - variant of bitmap, can be exported from Paint
- CUR - Windows cursor, actually seems already supported if you rename .cur to .ico
- CR3 - newer Canon RAW format, it can be loaded by PhotoDemon when selecting "All files" in the Open dialog, but the color seems slightly altered by default if compared to Windows Photos, and the import process is slower than other formats for relatively small images (10 MB).
- MNG - a variant of PNG which contains multiple images; PhotoDemon loads one frame properly, but it would be better if handled like TIFF or animated GIF.
- FITS - used for scientific images
- DICOM - used for medical images
