What happened?

I run into a strange bug.

The very first test I run when recording through the mic worked, then nothing. The wav files were not written and I saw that write access was blocked by Windows Defender built-in ransomware protection. I had to explicitly allow vibe.exe, and then it started working again.

Suggestion: write temp files to the application's AppData folder, not Documents. Writing to AppData is, as far as I know, what MS recommends as best practice.

Steps to reproduce

  1. step one install, enable ransomware protection
  2. step two, record a message
3.. step three, try recording another message -
  3. check ms security center logs to the access denied.

What OS are you seeing the problem on?
