Did you enter some info at the 'variation' tab? Because as far I can see now, that could cause this. And the variation tab is not fully tested.. :( |

the error happens everytime I set up a new area then test the area for functionality I have already done a fresh install today and got it working just fine and then created an area and tested it and it crashes the GUI........ here is the debug (venv) Cinett@raspberrypi:~/TerrariumPI $ python terrariumPI.py |

Yes, as it cannot continue to load. After loading the areas the webserver should start. But that was not happening due to the error above. With the latest code update, that should be fixed, and the webserver should be able to start. And therefore the gui should be available again. |

okay well gonna try for the third time to do a clean wipe and retry because it refuses to connect to the GUI after that error happens |

this is my last question and I should understand it completely, these are my current settings but my relay isn't toggling on as I have the probe in a glass of water to drop the temp and test the relay to toggle on low alarm and high alarm, any advice? |

I think setting the 'alarm threshold' to 0 should make the relay toggle earlier. Else it will take at least 2 error measurements which is about 30 seconds delay (single run time). I hope that the 'high alarm' tab is empty. At least no relays selected. Than it should work. You could also look at the logfile in the 'data' folder. The file terrariumpi.log should tell why a relay is not changed when there was an alarm. |

high alarm is set with a different relay for venting, the threshold was set to 0 and it still didn't turn on. there is no log file in the data folder there is a log directory and these are the last few lines. 2022-12-13 23:58:52,912 - INFO - terrariumEngine - Engine update done in 0.78 seconds. Waiting for 29.22 seconds for the next round. |

Hmm, this is a GUI bug. The log is saying:
This means that you have to select Ignore now for the pull down at light and door status. The select box does not select the first option by default. So if you change that and save it, it should start toggling. |

This is not possible. As seen on this screenshot: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/theyosh/TerrariumPI/main/screenshots/Temperature_sensors_list.webp the relay will toggle on when to cold (below low alarm) and toggle of when to hot (above high alarm). The only other option is to use a dimmer. With a dimmer it is possible to get a power value which keeps the temperature at the middle of the low and high alarm value. But not all electronic devices will work with a dimmer. So I can't give you a direct answer. |
