unable to modify linear layout's line tension

Just started play with my data using ggraph today, and I am running into an issue where using the linear layout, the tension of the lines in the graph is 0, regardless of what I specify in the code.

What are some possible reasons and solutions for this?

This is belated so you've probably moved on but you are probably looking for the strength parameter in geom_edge_arc()
