The system has been configured to save the file in the emacs buffer when the focus is switched away from the tab. It does this by pushing 2 Ctrl-G characters into the input stream, which will cancel the current operation, which happens to be a file load, leaving the note editor with an empty buffer.
If this happens, close the tab and reopen it without interruptions.
