I've looked online for people having this issue. I've removed/re-installed snap-store, cleared the appropriate cache, etc.

Ubuntu Software (aka snap-store) won't run on Ubuntu 22.04.1, WSL ver 1.2.5.0
Jun 28, 2023
Run snap store (use sudo otherwise installs will fail):
sudo snap-store
Seems that you're using some other method, though. When you say you click to "show applications", where are you clicking? Do you have some sort of GUI?
Thanks for your reply. Running snap-store from the shell works
Running it from the GUI does not (I'm running gnome). I click 'Show Applications' on the panel/dock, then click 'Ubuntu Software'. This was when I installed the full gnome desktop.
I've gotten a full desktop to run (Gnome, KDE, xfce) - just fyi :)
cmd /c ver
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19044.3086]
wsl --status
Default Distribution: Ubuntu-22.04
Default Version: 2
Did the problem occur during installation?
What happened?
Unable to run 'Ubuntu Software' (which I believe is snap-store)
What was expected?
Software should run and allow installation of other software
Steps to reproduce
Click 'show applications', click 'Ubuntu Software'
