Ubuntu Software (aka snap-store) won't run on Ubuntu 22.04.1, WSL ver 1.2.5.0 #402

Did the problem occur during installation?

  • Yes

What happened?

Unable to run 'Ubuntu Software' (which I believe is snap-store)

What was expected?

Software should run and allow installation of other software

Steps to reproduce

Click 'show applications', click 'Ubuntu Software'

Additional information

I've looked online for people having this issue. I've removed/re-installed snap-store, cleared the appropriate cache, etc.

Hello, and thanks for your report!

I managed to run the Snap Store without issue:

  1. Install Snap store:
$ sudo snap install snap-store
  1. Run snap store (use sudo otherwise installs will fail):
sudo snap-store

Seems that you're using some other method, though. When you say you click to "show applications", where are you clicking? Do you have some sort of GUI?

Thanks for your reply. Running snap-store from the shell works

Running it from the GUI does not (I'm running gnome). I click 'Show Applications' on the panel/dock, then click 'Ubuntu Software'. This was when I installed the full gnome desktop.

I've gotten a full desktop to run (Gnome, KDE, xfce) - just fyi :)
