I have a RC2 blade (more then 1) and would like to install this for further monitoring of the fan speed over prometheus.

Does it work with the fan units we got with the RC2 blades (non smart unit)?

Hey @dstewen

Sorry missed the notifications.
Yes, I've been testing this on the RC2s as well with both smart & standard fan units.

The only caveat for the standard fan units is a slightly higher CPU utilisation when measuring the fan speed (linked to inefficiencies & polling in the gpio driver)

I'm running Debian 12 (bookworm) on my blades. I've taken a quick look at the installer and if I am understanding it correctly it just appears to install the package file (.deb).

You mentioned a gpio driver? Does any specific functionality need to be activated via config.txt in the kernel for the package to work?

It should work out of the box, you only need a change in the config.txt when using the smart fan unit.

Do you get an error log (it's setting up a systemd service)
