FR: Make use of Home Assistant possibilities

What also would be a complete plus if it could communicate through a home assistant integration. HA being one of the largest and most popular/active FOSS projects.

If they could interact the assets fields can then become be sensors in home assistant, that way you can make use of al the possible automations/graphs/dashboards etc that are already developed for it). I am well aware of the fact that small feature requests can be quite consuming, let alone integrating it with HA for example. So if you don't like that idea I'd completely understand. Please don't see it as request or something but more like me dropping the idea for you to think over. It might be something for the (distant) future so you can make use of all the already developed tools HA has to offer but it can also be that's completely off with the direction you'd like to go (in that case just close this ticket and I'll know that then 😉).

I believe HA integrations have to be written in Python (I could be wrong) so that would need to be a separate repo/project, having said that assets exposes an REST API, I presume theres a generic HA integration that can show data from arbitrary rest endpoint. For this to work `assets would need to provide long standing API authentication key

Indeed it is. I shall have a look in the weekend or next week to see if I can set it up using the API (and if so will definitely put an howto here then for others that might find it usefull). I found some pointers in how to do it already in https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/rest/

I also found an existing integration (https://github.com/ad-ha/atw), but it is using its own backend (which doesn't find all assets while yours does). Ideal would be to have this integration as frontend (for entering transaction through home assistant) while using assets as backend. Might be worth considering using a fork if you ever would like to offer a HA integration for assets.
