High-level objective

All design system components are in the process of being reviewed to ensure they match Figma specifications and follow current code standards. Applying standards throughout the library quickly results in less migration work for teams since consistency debt accumulated over time will be addressed during a short span.

Rationale for prioritization

Even though the Divider is a very simple component, we need to review it as any other component. The component already matches Figma specifications, so to consider it "reviewed," we must ensure that the code and documentation meet the current standards.

Scope and timeline

Q1C1 - Engineering, Refine and Implement

• Understand if the component meets current DS code standards
• Benchmark how other design systems handle dividers
• Write RFC for architecture (if there will be relevant changes)
• Validate RFC and timeline with other engineers and core-team designers (if there will be relevant changes)
• Implement proposed improvements or changes needed to match current DS code standards
• Document code with references and examples
• Validate implementation with core-team engineers and designers
• Communicate the release to engineers
