On a private network we can access by jackcast.local from a computer supporting mDNS however it does not appear Android supports this. I could have swore I was accessing by jackcast.local through Firefox but this is no longer the case. Since control of Jackcast will most likely be done from a phone we need to support this functionality.
I currently have a domain jackcast.hopto.org from no-ip configured and working. Ideally we have this configuration baked into the web ui so other users can provide their own domains.
