Support tags. #3

Do you want to tag items on a list? What features do you need to organize your things with the tags? Asking because I want to have a more complete picture of what I need to build to fullfill your needs. |
@bitboxer, I have a lot of technology in my lists. When choosing what to purchase, usually I want to get compatible equipment. Consequently, I tag my items depending upon their serial connectors – some are USB-C, others by default USB-A or analogue (2/3).5-mm auxiliary ports requiring conversion to the aforementioned. Additionally, because I've done and shall do a lot of governmental defence-related work, I tag whether my clothes have epaulettes, and what kind – button or popper attachments, and attached epaulettes or removable versions (requiring adaptation). |
But what do your folks who scroll through your list with that? I don't think they will filter for those criteria when selecting gift, or? I really try to limit the number of features needed not to end up with an app that does toooons and has tons of options, but is confusing users with too many ways of doing things. This should be a wishlist, not an excel sheet 😅. |
@bitboxer, I use wishlists primarily for private usage, so my answer to your enquiry would be that they probably wouldn't use that criteria. Although it does appear evident to me that one could reasonably construe a situation in which someone would use tags to organize things in a manner intended to help others know what to purchase. |
Yeah...because of that I think it will be super low on my todo list. It would be a power user feature at best. I would say that if your wish list is soo long that you need tags, you are overwhelming your folks you would send the list to. You should use separate lists for that and share them. From the data I see most lists are below 30 items. And those few big ones are really outliers. |
I can't easily transfer from https://raindrop.io or my CalDAV lists if I can't organize anything.
