Cant update some of my 8266 controllers (might be due to small flash size)

What happened?

Hey there,

3 of my controllers can't update.

This is the info for one of them displayed in the settings:

Installed version: WLED 0.15.2 (2508020)
"ESP02"
(Processor: ESP8266)

How exactly did I manage to install an ESP02 version on an ESP8266?

The controllers are from China, I have no idea whats actually inside of them and opening them would mean quite a bunch of work.

I've tried ESP8266 images - "Not enough space"
Same for ESP02 images.

It also shows Installed version: Unknown
Release: Unknown in the update menu

I did try to compress the bin myself but then it didnt pass validation - As do the compressed images on github.

What exactly can I do here?

I've tried ESP8266 images - "Not enough space"

Can you say how much Flash your boards have? You cannot OTA update boards with 1MB flash or less, but updating via USB might work.

I can't.

The controllers are sealed so updating via USB is not really an option i fear.
