Create a file settings/env.h. Inside, define a macro NETSSID with your network name and NETPASS with the network password if needed. Define a unique DEVICE_ID of 4-16 A-Z0-9-_ characters. When running, make sure to select the COM port you have the arduino plugged into. Stop the serial monitor before rerunning or it may not connect without restarting VSCode. You may need to update the Arduino's firmware and/or add SSL certificates for https (See here).
