Extensions Update Checker: disable window activation or set specific time for updates

Currently, when there is an update, no matter what user is doing, it automatically activates the Add-On manager (if it is a specific window it activates the tab), changing focus from whatever window the user was on. Would it be possible to do either of these things:

• Activate the tab but not the window (I have the Add-Ons Manager in a separate window always)
• Wait until idle for 5 minutes before changing window
• Alternatively: Firefox only gives a value for "app.update.interval" (seconds since the last time updates were checked). Would it be possible to make this script wait till the exact specified daily time (hard-coded in script)? That way it wouldn't interrupt user whatever they are doing.
