This budget request focuses on the essential, user-centered support work by J and Barry, along with Delist’s role in managing the yearn.social Telegram group. Building on our contributions from the previous cycle, we remain dedicated to providing responsive, high-quality assistance, scam prevention, ongoing tool maintenance, and community engagement to enhance user experience and safety. This BR continues the scope outlined in our last BR, which is available here.
Scope
ySupport delivers dedicated, real-time support across Discord, Telegram, and Reddit, acting as the primary point of contact for users. Our responsibilities include troubleshooting technical issues, addressing complex inquiries, and protecting the community from scams and impersonators. We manage and develop tools that streamline access to data and insights for users, and exploring potential enhancements for quicker linking to relevant documentation and responses in user inquiries.. This proposal covers a focused scope to ensure thorough coverage of core support needs, while other contributors remain aligned with team goals in additional ways as needed.
Our work supports users in understanding and interacting with Yearn products, responding promptly to technical inquiries, and maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere across all channels. We will also collaborate with Ross, Yearn’s devdocs maintainer, to keep Yearn user guides up-to-date and relevant, ensuring users have access to accurate and helpful documentation. Additionally, delist manages the yearn.social Telegram group for discussions about YFI and Yearn-related topics while maintaining community engagement.
Plan
Our goal is to ensure all user inquiries are resolved properly and accurately. We cover a wide range of user questions about Yearn’s ecosystem, blockchain-related issues, and general DeFi topics, aiming to provide accurate and timely support across all community channels.
Technical Support and Inquiry Handling:
Provide users with guidance on navigating complex blockchain transactions, vault interactions, and general troubleshooting.
Act as the main responders for technical issues, managing both product-specific inquiries and more advanced DeFi-related topics, including tracing and analyzing token movements and assisting users in interacting with smart contracts through block explorers.
Collaborate with other teams, including the devdocs maintainer, to address technical concerns and ensure Yearn’s documentation remains up-to-date and relevant.
Scam Prevention and Community Protection:
Regularly monitor all channels for potential scam activity, with J overseeing and updating the Discord Automod system and both J and Barry manually banning scam accounts on Discord, Telegram, and Reddit. In September and October alone, we manually banned 467 scammers and spammers across all channels.
Adapt community protections to counteract evolving scam tactics, ensuring a secure user environment.
Foster a positive, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere in Yearn’s Discord, Telegram, Reddit, and other public channels, ensuring user concerns are met with respect and professionalism.
Tool Maintenance and Development:
Maintain and improve support tools, which have become valuable resources for tracking vault deposits, calculating yields, and viewing vault performance data.
yDeposits enables contributors to provide precise insights into vault performance by calculating APR, APY, and pricePerShare changes over user-defined time or block ranges for accurate yield analysis and decision-making. It also generates daily reports on top vaults by APR, tracks APR anomalies, and highlights gainers and losers.
yPort assists users in consolidating their deposit data across multiple addresses, providing a comprehensive view of their vault holdings. This tool streamlines their experience by offering clear performance insights and suggesting higher-APR vaults based on their current deposits.
The FAQ bot simplifies answering common inquires and access to documentation, allowing support contributors to quickly link users to specific answers in Yearn’s FAQ, maintained by Ross.
Repositories for these tools are publicly available:
Our commitment to user safety and satisfaction remains the priority, and our expertise is essential in maintaining Yearn’s reputation for responsiveness, user care, and technical support.
