Rev6.0 - Flight Model
Main Components:
- DRA818V transceiver
- STM32F103C8T6 microcontroller (one MCU only)
- 5x Temperature Sensors
- 4x RADFETs and Circuitry
- 2x Linear CCDs and Circuitry (for galactic cosmic radiation sensing)
Other Info
- Rev6.0 (and Rev2 of the test fixture) was ordered on 2023-12-01.
Rev5.1: BOM release
Main Components:
- DRA818V
- STM32F103C8T6 microcontroller (one MCU only)
- 5x Temperature Sensors
- 4x RADFETs and Circuitry
- 4x PIN Diode Experiments
Other Info
- Rev5.1 is the same PCB as Rev5.0, but with BOM and DNP updates.
- Rev5.1 is shipped to the BIRDS-X team for the competition.
- Designed to run a forked-and-modified version of vp-digi.
- Refer to the Rev5 release notes for errata details.
Rev5.0 - DRA818V-based board with STM32F103C8T6
Main Components:
- DRA818V
- STM32F103C8T6 microcontroller (one MCU only)
- 5x Temperature Sensors
- 4x RADFETs and Circuitry
- 4x PIN Diode Experiments
Other Info
- Ordered on 2023-08-23.
- Designed to run a forked-and-modified version of vp-digi
Errata: Rev5 Main PCB
- Forgot teardrops on main board.
- Forgot I2C pull-up resistors (2k2 or similar)
Errata: Rev1 Test Fixture/Upgrades
- 5V trace has to be cut and re-run from
J_5V_1
screw terminal (cut twice) - ST-LINK header is mirrored. Used jumper wires to connect it.
- The alligator clip terminals should be on the edge of the board, and should maybe be a simpler footprint.
- The DIO enable switches should have resistors on them to prevent a make-before-break failure in the switch shorting 3V3/5V to GND.
- The UART and ST-LINK ports should have disableable 3V3 and 5V connections, because those lines get double-driven from the ST-LINK.
- Upgrade: Add optional LEDs lights to the DIO switch lines.
- Upgrade: Add a few easy-to-connect LEDs that can be run from the 3V3 and 5V breakouts for on-the-fly debugging/monitoring.
Rev4.0 - Cancelled Order - DRA818V, STM32F103
Main Components:
- DRA818V
- STM32F103C8T6 microcontroller (one MCU only)
- 5x Temperature Sensors
- 4x RADFETs and Circuitry
- 4x PIN Diode Experiments
Other Info
- Ordered on 2023-08-23. Cancelled order due to serious errata.
- Designed to run a forked-and-modified version of vp-digi
Errata
- Main board didn't have critical connections to the MCU in the schematic (and thus missing on the board too). Would've been an expensive brick.
- Test fixture has a short of 5V to the pour on the right side of the board. Bodge wire will fix.
Rev3.0 - DRA818V-based NucleoTNC-supporting board
This revision is an alternative design to the Rev2.0 SX1276-based board. This board employs the DRA818V transceiver, and uses the NucleoTNC design to drive the transceiver. It includes a separate microcontroller for the NucleoTNC (STM32L432).
This board was ordered around 2023-07-24.
Rev2.0 - ordered board on 2023-06-21
Add final Rev2 production files
Rev1.0 - pre-release, never ordered
Rev1.0 is a pre-release board that neared completion, but was never finished nor ordered. It includes several design flaws (inappropriate RF transceiver, lacked PIN Diode system, lacked concurrent reading circuitry for radfets), and was iterated on before a PCB was ordered.
