Storage Jar

Empty, Empty with Label, Filled with Netherwarts

Type Crafting
Stackable No (1)
Harvest Tool -
First Appearance 1.0

Description

The storage jar is a new storage block. It is a special storage block, as it keeps its inventory when you pick it up! There are 50+ different items you can store! But only one full stack(64). This is particularly useful to store or transport items that just stack to 16 (like pumpkin seeds). You can use a hopper to insert items too, but there is currently no way to make the contents eject other than by hand. Though you can use a Block Dispenser to pickup and place the jar. Or you can just remove the block below it or piston push the jar to make it drop into item form. In the future if I can figure out a way to make falling tile entities, I will give it gravity, and just like with placed buckets, so you can piston push it to make it fall over and spill its contents.

Usage

In order to store items in the jar, place the jar in a suitable location and right click it with a stack of items. Right clicking with a empty hand ejects the contents of the jar. If you hold shift you will insert or eject only 1 item. To pickup the jar just break it with any tool or empty hand. If you right click with a piece of paper you can apply a label that displays the contents with a neat little icon. To remove the label right click with a piece of soap or heat it up in a stoked cauldron. But beware it will destroy any item that was in it!
