The Affero General Public License (AGPL-3.0) ensures that any modifications made to this software and deployed publicly (e.g., on a server) must also be released under the same license. It promotes transparency and openness, even in networked applications.
We chose this as a license as only one of us was particular familiar with licenses and the implications of different choices, and they happened to be an advocate for open source and had used the AGPL-3.0 previously.
