Breezedude is an open source, low power, FANET connected wind data transmitter developed to the needs of paragliding sites.
The wind speed and direction can be measured with different kinds of sensors.
With a little technical skill you can modify a sensor yourself, see the manuals provided in this wiki.
Currently the following are supported:
- ✅ Ecowitt WS85 UART: requires modification - easy (recommended)
- ✅ Davis 6410 or 7911: requires different connector or adapter - easy
⚠️ Ecowitt WS80 / Froggit DP1000: requires modification - hard⚠️ Ecowitt WS90: possible see discussion - easy- 🚫 Ecowitt WS85 debug mode hack: requires modification - outdated
If you would like to use a different type of sensor, leave me a comment.
You can build a Breezedude wind station 🛠 from scratch your own or 💵buy a kit of the sending box. Currently there is no kit including a sensor available, but will be available Q3 2025. A FANET groundstation is available 📡 here
