FAQ: Change colours of atoms

Can I change the default colours of atoms in the graphics window of crystals?

To do this permanently: look in the last column of the file %LOCALAPPDATA%\script\propwin.dat (there is a shortcut to this folder in the Crystals group in the Windows Start menu).

Note that structures in existing dsc files will retain their exisitng colours, since the colour is stored in List 29. To update an old List 29 easily, choose "Edit Formula" from the "X-ray-Data" menu, the just click OK to overwrite the old list. The new one will read in colours from the modified propwin.dat.
