This is all good with one thing to understand: 0xAA00FF if you look in sequence is 170, 0, 255. However if you have a DWORD (32 bit number) stored in memory, then they would almost always store 0xAA00FF in the order FF, 00, AA, 00. It's worth googling little-endian and big-endian.
