Intro

Ghosts are a unique and a little bit out of context feature of Survival Inc. The idea of ghosts originated from Scopcraft, and was later fully reworked and extended in Survival Inc.

General

Ghost mode doesn't affect normal gameplay up to the moment when player dies. When the player tries to respawn, instead of waking up in their bed like Kenny McCormic, they become a ghost.

Trivia/Lore

Since ghosts don't have any physical body, their interactions are very limited. Initially, ghosts are just a very pale blob of energy floating around. Nobody really knows what this energy is or what physical properties it has. Our scientists at Survival Inc. have conducted many studies about it, and so far, they have discovered that this energy interacts with the world so that in night, undead hostile creatures are spawned out of it. It is believed that this energy is somehow tied to the moon (some even think that the moon may be filled with this stuff), but this is still just a hypothesis. What we know for sure that ghosts are able to accumulate this energy over time during night, which is probably caused by the some attractive interaction between the energy's manifestations. If enough energy accumulates in one point, it starts to become visible. Eventually, this sentinent "ghastly energy" gains ability to interact with the physical world in a limited manner. By taking advantage of this mechanisms, ghosts might actually be able to switch levers or open doors by blowing some of their energy on them. Moreover, since this energy is not matter (and therefore is massless), it is not affected by gravity. It is, however, strangely attracted to void. This causes the ghosts to appear to be affected by gravity. However, the void attractive force is weak enough to be defied by blowing little amounts of energy in downwards direction (acting like a thruster). It was also discovered that this energy is able to interact with leaking life energy. By careful observation and many experiments, it was discovered that ghosts are able to capture the escaping life energy from nearby entity when it dies. By doing so, they are able to fuse it with their own energy, forming a fully functional new body. This process takes just a few seconds, but due to it's powerful nature, it is highly exothermic. Don't worry though, the explosion doesn't affect anything overworldly. Probably.

Practical

Ghosts are player-controlled entities that behave much like limited spectators. The sole property of ghosts is their ghost energy, which is displayed as white hearts with ghost face. Hostile mobs don't attack ghosts as their targets. Even if they did so, the ghosts are invulnerable to most kinds of damage. Ghosts are also not affected by all the other stats like heat, hydration, sanity and wetness.

What ghosts are able to do:

  • Float just above the ground
  • Fly around freely like in Creative*
  • Move faster using boost* (by hitting "Sprint" button)
  • Interact with some blocks*

What ghost are NOT able to do:

  • Hit mobs (if they do so, their energy leaks a little bit)
  • Open block inventories
  • Place or break blocks
  • Pick items up
  • Sleep

Currently, ghosts are able to interact with these blocks:

  • Redstone Comparator (2p)
  • Redstone Repeater (2p)
  • Wooden Trapdoor (0.9p)
  • Wooden Button (0.5p)
  • Stone Button (0.6p)
  • Fence Gate (0.9p)
  • Wooden Door (1p)
  • Lever (0.75p)

All these interactions are able if the ghost has at least 40% energy readily available. Also, all these interactions cost some of that energy (specified by the "p"). The 'p' is the configured base interaction cost, which is generally 10 ghost energy points (2 hearts).

Resurrection

Ghosts are able to resurrect themselves by getting near a mob that is about to die for whatever reason. When the entity dies, the ghost resurrection process starts. The process is displayed as the white ghost hearts turning red with glowing purple eyes. When the process is about to end, the player hears a distinct sound and just before the final transformation, there is a big explosion (the explosion does no damage to surrounding environment). By this moment, the ghost is fully transformed into a normal player. They are no longer able to use the abilities exclusive to ghosts, and can continue their normal survival experience.
