Pre-release

What’s New in Anima v2.0.0

The "Performance" Update

I realized that the builds would be heavy on my PC even though it's just simple. So I deleted almost everything and rebuilt Anima from scratch using C++ and Qt. It was a lot of work, but this new Anima version is now faster, smaller, and way more powerful.

The "Better" Stuff

Insane Performance: It doesn't matter if you're on a high-end gaming PC or a "potato" laptop from 2015. It should run smoothly now.

Tiny File Size: The app is now way under 100MB. More room for your animations, less room taken by the software. (shocking 😲)

Actually Lightweight: No more fans spinning like a jet engine just because you opened the app, let your PC breathe a little.

New Features

The "Save Anything" System: You can now save in the new .anx format, but don't worry—you can still open your old .anima files from v1

Pro Shortcuts: I’ve added proper hotkeys (B for Brush, E for Eraser, etc.) so you can animate more comfortably.

Native Feel (might be for the nerds lol): Because it’s built in C++, it feels like a real desktop app, not just a website in a window.

What’s Gone?

The old v1 files: You can find them somewhere in this repo I guess..?

A Note from the Creator (Me :D)
I'm using this version to learn how to code in C++. It might have some bugs (it's a massive change!), so if it crashes, just let me know in the Issues tab.

Next up: Linux support and hopefully a mobile port!

Also alpha 4 might be one of the last alphas for Anima v2 because of the current progress now, but I might be wrong 🤷

Next up: Linux support and hopefully a mobile port!
